Chernev is a great teacher, and gives his lessons clearly in a pleasant, easy to read manner that just flows. Chernev’s book presents a number of games in a fantastic format – each move is explained, even if it’s the 20th time you’ve seen 1. The games themselves are as old moce the hills.
Most of these older books have PGN collections of the games and positions available online if you look around a bit. Chernev explains every move of every game. The only gy I found in the book was that it had about 3 or 4 themes that it kept focusing on.
